If you need a heat exchanger capable of
handling extreme heat transfer duties
with long temperature programmes and high flow
rates we’ve got the ideal solution for you.
The new Alfa Laval Packinox+ is designed
for demanding positions
with high pressures and temperatures, and
offers outstanding thermal performance
in combination with a very low pressure
drop and minimal CAPEX.
My name is Thierry Sourp, and I am managing
director at Alfa Laval Packinox.
Joining me today is my colleague Bertrand
Bouzet, one of our Packinox specialist
and in this video we will introduce you to some
of the many benefits offered by Packinox+
So Bertrand, can you please describe what makes a
Packinox+ heat exchanger so special?
Yes, thank you Thierry. A Packinox+ heat exchanger
combines the respective benefits
of shell-and-tube and plate heat exchangers.
Basically, it is a plate heat exchanger with
a cylindrical pressure vessel.
The pressure vessel ensures the unit can operate
at high temperatures and pressures
and since the heat transfer takes place in a
plate pack, it is much more efficient
than in a traditional shell-and-tube.
as a matter of fact, a single Packinox+ heat
exchanger can transfer more heat
than systems consisting of multiple
large shell-and-tubes.
And since a Packinox+ solution is more compact, its
investment and installation costs are much lower.
And I would also like to mention that Packinox+ is based
on the same market-leading technology
that is used in our standard Packinox
model which has been used in
some of the most demanding heat transfer positions
in refineries for more than 30 years.
Great. So Packinox+ can be used in a wide
range of applications and optimized
for highly asymmetric flows, for example
gas-to-liquid or gas-to-gas duties.
Can you tell us more about this?
Absolutely. Each Packinox+ is engineered to order
and optimized for the specific conditions
under which it will operate. Thanks to Alfa Laval’s
latest innovation, which we call FlexFlow
we can individually optimize the flow
geometry of each stream
in order to ensure the unit delivers both superior heat
transfer and an optimized pressure drop
even for highly asymmetric flows.
Thank you, Bertrand.
